Monthly Team Practices

The Team practise sessions are held on the first Sunday of every month. During this session the Team covers essential areas of Mountain Rescue such as, navigation, stretcher work, communications, steep ground work, technical ropework and search management only to name a few.

The practise sessions start at about 9.30am on the Sunday and tend to finish sometime in the early afternoon, depending on what we are covering in terms of an exercise.

We generally head out on to the hills for our practise sessions and try to make them as 'Real Life' as possible. Much of our time is dedicated to training for any eventuality. The most important attribute of any Team member is that he or she must be a competent mountaineer. Callouts can be in any terrain, any weather, day or night and can mean long periods on the hill and all people who join the team soon realise the amount of commitment which is required to be a member of a Mountain Rescue Team.
