Making a Donation

As you can see from elsewhere in this site, the Mourne MRT is a large, voluntary, busy, organisation and you may be asking yourselves where does the money come from to pay for all this?

The simple answer is by donations. Every year members of the team have to raise sufficient money to run our vehicles, buy equipment, and equip our team members with clothing and personal equipment to undertake rescues in the sort of conditions in which we operate.

As you can imagine this sort of expense is more than a few thousand pounds a year. It can run into tens of thousands of pounds - every year, year after year, and raising that sort of money takes as much of our team members time as going out on rescues. Remember we are all volunteers and we have to do this in our spare time, but without fund raising there would be no Mourne Mountain Rescue Team.

Mountain Rescue is a tough business. It needs the best people, the best equipment
and the best support.
